Codename Sapphire (Unreleased Title)
This project is a puzzle title intended for a mobile audience. At first, I was working on this title as the sole artist, but as the studio grew I turned my focus to concept work, UI artwork & iteration, and background & character conception. Essentially my role is chief conceptual artist & UI artist extraordinaire. I also help with the VFX on the team as we do not have a VFX specialist.
We began with a papercraft style for the game, and slowly moved toward a more polished modern look with Japanese-inspired character design. I utilized the lore that our writer painstakingly worked on to focus on the background designs for multiple levels to implement in pre-alpha. The backgrounds are designed to contain parallaxing, and will be fantastical in nature.
I have been working with our UI designer to create a polished version of the Pre-Alpha Build. I base my assets on the context created by the wireframes, connect them to the potential artstyle we are looking for, and proceed to create the polished UI assets.
